About UPS Job in Tucson, AZ after the military

UPS Job in Tucson, AZ after the military?
My husband has two years left in the United States Marine Corps. but when he gets out he really wants to work for UPS. I think this would be a great job for him, but he really wants to work in Tucson, AZ. Does anyone know if there are always job availabilities for UPS truck drivers in Tucson, AZ or should he put his name on a wait list, and if he does put his name on a wait list, what would happen if his contract with the military isn't over with? Will they hold his position? Thank you in advance.

To add to what the previous person said, you go to http://www.upsjobs.com and submit an application. Provided your husband has no criminal record, he will be a candidate should a position be open. If he's a college student using his GI bill, he will get favor over non-college students because they are looking for leaders. He needs to be in decent shape. Being a UPSer in operations can be strenuous at times but you have to want to succeed! Think of it as an aerobic workout and getting paid! Now, regarding the truck driving dream... your husband will have to work up for that. It's all about seniority. It starts off with you being a package handler, making $8.50/hr. You work 4 to 5 hours a day and the job is from Monday to Friday. Whoot!~ Insurance is AWESOME. Employees, spouses, and children are FREE last time I checked and benefits I think start at 6 months after hire. Now - how do you move up? Once a driver position comes open, you can bid on a delivery route in a package car. You can then work your way up the ladder to better routes and as a driver the pay get's REALLY GOOD. You do earn the money though and he'll put in the hours--a LOT of hours. By the way, I know former marines who are drivers so your husband can do this! He just needs to land the job and have patience. You may have to work also while he's a part-timer. Sacrifice and get ahead but it'll be worth it. Driver jobs come open from as soon as 6 months and up to 7 or 8 years for smaller centers. It just depends on if a driver is retiring. Sorry so long but good luck. UPS is a GREAT company with GREAT people! =)

If he want to work for ups in Az he might want to call one of the ups put there to make sure that he could get one out there if he applies for it..As for the military if he has 2 years left he can accept to relist with them or resign. He is the one who has the opption to do another so many years with the marines..
